Shutdown Delayed after Judges Intervene

A shutdown of the Orleans Clerk of Criminal Court's office was delayed for at least a week. The Clerk of the Criminal Court, Arthur Morrell, previously threatened to close the office this week, but has since delayed taking the drastic step until at least the 13th of January. The following statement was issued:

"Clerk of Criminal District Court Arthur Morrell met with several judges this morning including new Chief Judge Karen Herman to discuss issues including his office’s lack of full funding from the City of New Orleans. The judges asked that Morrell hold off from any further action until next Monday, Jan. 13, to give them time to help resolve the issues discussed."
